Renowned Kumawood actor and movie producer Kwadwo Nkansah, known widely as Lil Win, has decided to withdraw from his plans to contest in the upcoming parliamentary elections scheduled for December.
Initially, Lil Win intended to represent the Afigya Kwabre North constituency in the Ashanti region but has now postponed his political ambitions.
In a recent interview on Hitz FM’s Daybreak Hitz with Andy Dosty, Lil Win revealed that financial constraints are the primary reason for his decision to defer his political bid. He acknowledged the substantial funding required to run a successful campaign, which he currently lacks.

“Running a campaign needs a lot of money, and I don’t have enough now,” Lil Win admitted. “I will contest in the next four years; I am waiting for that.”
Despite the delay, Lil Win remains determined to serve his constituency. He plans to run in the 2028 parliamentary elections, giving himself ample time to prepare and gather the necessary resources. His decision to pause now reflects a pragmatic approach to his long-term political career.
Lil Win has chosen to run as an independent candidate rather than align with any of Ghana’s major political parties. He explained his reasoning during the interview, citing his affiliations with both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“I am not running under the banners of NPP or NDC because I love both parties and have friends everywhere,” he explained. “I am going independent.”
Lil Win’s engagement with both major parties highlights his broad appeal and connections within the political landscape. His decision to run independently underscores his desire to represent his constituents without party biases, reflecting a commitment to community-focused governance.
As Lil Win steps back to focus on future plans, his supporters and constituents in Afigya Kwabre North will be watching closely. His decision to wait until 2028 indicates a thoughtful approach to political engagement, ensuring that when he does run, he will be well-prepared and adequately funded to make a significant impact.
