Ghanaian rap sensation Sarkodie has recently addressed the speculation surrounding his latest single, “Brag,” shedding light on the alleged jabs aimed at fellow rappers like M.anifest and others.

In the song, Sarkodie asserts his dominance in the rap game, highlighting his tenure in the industry before the rise of artists like Wizkid and Davido. He emphasizes that his rap legacy was already well-established by the time these artists entered the scene, making them non-competitors.

Additionally, Sarkodie references Burna Boy, Asake, and fellow Ghanaian rapper Black Sherif in the track, further fueling speculation of subtle jabs.

However, in an exclusive interview with VoxAfrica, Sarkodie clarified that the references to these artists were not intended as jabs but rather as acknowledgments of their prominence in the African music industry. He emphasized that his true competition lies outside Africa, citing Kendrick Lamar and J. Cole.

Sarkodie reiterated that he would never disrespect artists like Wizkid, Davido, Burna Boy, Asake, and Black Sherif, especially considering their non-rap backgrounds. He further emphasized his close relationship with Black Sherif, stating he would never diss him on a song.

In conclusion, Sarkodie’s clarification offers insights into the intentions behind “Brag” and underscores the importance of context when interpreting artistic expressions in the music industry.
