Renowned Ghanaian media personality and entrepreneur, Afua Asantewaa Aduonum, has announced her intention to make another attempt at breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing session. Her previous effort in December 2023 was met with challenges, but she remains undeterred and is considering a renewed attempt.

In a recent interview with GHONE TV, Afua shared her perspective on perseverance, drawing inspiration from both political figures and sports teams. She likened her situation to presidential candidates who continue to campaign after losing elections and to the Black Stars, Ghana’s national football team, who persist in their quest for World Cup success despite setbacks.

“I’ve been thinking about it a lot, and I believe that my record attempt is similar to the Black Stars participating in a World Cup or a presidential candidate running for office,” Afua remarked. “I have never seen the Black Stars quit football because they did not qualify for the World Cup; they still play all the time. Similarly, presidential candidates who have not won the presidential seat keep trying.”

Afua emphasized that her previous failure does not mean she should give up on her dream. “If I have attempted the World Record and it wasn’t successful, it does not mean that I should give up. We are still considering it, and moving forward, I believe that a lot has been learned. We have only two weeks to attempt what we did last year in December, so we have enough months ahead to prepare and hit it once and for all,” she added.

Afua’s tenacity and determination are evident as she looks ahead, planning to use the lessons learned from her initial attempt to better prepare for a future effort. Her resilience serves as an inspiration, reminding us that setbacks are merely stepping stones to success.
