Ghanaian Chef Ebenezer Smith Breaks Guinness World Record for Longest Cooking Marathon

Chef Ebenezer Smith of Ghana has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual, with an extraordinary time of 802 hours and 25 minutes.

 

The ambitious cook-a-thon, which began on February 1 and concluded on March 5, 2024, took place at the Amadia Shopping Centre in Spintex. Chef Smith aimed to surpass the previous record of 119 hours and 57 minutes held by Irishman Alan Fisher. His marathon cooking session not only succeeded but also extended the record by a significant margin.

 

Chef Smith announced the confirmation of his new world record through a Facebook post, and an official press conference is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, July 2, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel.

During the month-long event, the cook-a-thon featured performances by popular artists such as Praye Tietia, Yaw Tog, Amerado, Kofi Jamar, and the Asakaa Boys. Numerous celebrities, including Nana Ama McBrown, Clemento Suarez, Kwaku Manu, SDK, and OB Amponsah, visited to show their support.

 

The event was generously sponsored by the Amadia Shopping Centre, making it a landmark achievement in Chef Smith’s culinary career. This new record not only highlights Chef Smith’s incredible stamina and dedication but also places Ghana in the spotlight for this remarkable culinary feat.
