Telecel Ghana Music Awards Unveils New Reward System for Artist of the Year, Starting with Stonebwoy

 Charterhouse Productions Ltd, the organizers of the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), have announced a new reward system for the prestigious Artist of the Year (AOTY) title. Moving forward, the AOTY will receive fully paid events, a significant enhancement to the accolade.

 

Robert Klah, Head of Public Events and Communication for Charterhouse, made this announcement during the Industry Mixer of the TGMA on Saturday, July 13. He revealed that this new initiative will commence with Stonebwoy, the celebrated artist who clinched the Artist of the Year award at the 25th TGMA.

“Telecel Ghana proudly sponsoring the TGMA is about to elevate the game for Artist of the Year from today onwards,” Klah stated during his speech at the mixer. “Starting with Stonebwoy, Telecel will fully pay for multiple paid events for the Artist of the Year, along with other Telecel products. This coming week, details of what is planned with Stonebwoy will be announced.”

 

The announcement was part of an eventful evening that also saw the presentation of personalized plaques to TGMA winners, symbolizing their victories in various categories. The Industry Mixer, held at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre, featured performances by renowned artists such as Stonebwoy, Adane Best, and more.

The 25th edition of the TGMA, which took place on June 1, 2024, was a grand celebration of Ghanaian musical talent, hosted by Chris Atoh and Naa Ashorkor. The event showcased spectacular performances by King Paluta, Efya Nokturnal, Kuami Eugene, and others. A standout moment of the night was the legendary Highlife artist Amakye Dede receiving a lifetime achievement award, honored with performances of his classic hits by various acts before he took the stage.

 

Stonebwoy’s triumph as Artist of the Year marked his second win in this category, reaffirming his influence and talent in the Ghanaian music scene. He emerged victorious from a competitive field that included top nominees such as Black Sherif, King Promise, Kuami Eugene, Nacee, and Sarkodie, reflecting the vibrant and diverse talent in the industry.

 

The new reward system by Telecel and Charterhouse Productions Ltd is set to redefine the recognition and opportunities for artists in Ghana, starting with Stonebwoy and promising to enhance the careers of future winners.
