Ghanaian music duo Keche has expressed frustration over the ongoing issue of musicians not receiving significant royalties from GHAMRO. In an interview with Accra-based Shobiz TV, Keche revealed that despite their numerous hit songs, they have never received even GHC500 in royalties from GHAMRO.

“No musician can boast of receiving GHC20,000 in royalties. We don’t understand what’s happening. Our managers are always present at meetings, but nothing changes. Why should we leave our jobs, which sustain us, to attend unproductive meetings?” Keche remarked.

Keche highlighted that even prominent artists like Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and Stonebwoy have not received royalties as high as GHC10,000. “It’s very disheartening. Despite our many hits over the years, GHAMRO hasn’t even given us GHC500, not even GHC200 or GHC100. Why should I bother attending these meetings?” they added.

The group also questioned the operations of GHAMRO and MUSIGA, noting that despite numerous discussions, no progress has been made. “I don’t understand what GHAMRO and MUSIGA are doing. The government doesn’t seem to support this enough,” Keche concluded.
