Ghanaian musician Olivetheboy has responded to public speculation following his performance at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Youth Manifesto launch on August 12.

After videos of his performance went viral, questions arose regarding his possible affiliation with the political party.

Speaking in an interview on Okay FM, Olivetheboy set the record straight, explaining that his participation was strictly a professional engagement and not a political endorsement. He revealed that he was invited to perform by Sharaf Mahama, son of former President John Mahama, and accepted the offer as he would any other paid gig.

“My performance at the event was no different from any other shows I do, whether it’s at Afrochella or any other platform. It’s purely business,” Olivetheboy stated.

The artist made it clear that his focus remains on his career and that he does not align himself with any political party. “If the NPP or CPP calls me to perform, I’ll do it without hesitation. My job is to entertain, not to endorse political agendas,” he added.

Olivetheboy also addressed the criticism he’s received, stating that while some might question his decision, his true fans understand that it’s all part of his livelihood. “I don’t let the critics get to me. My fans know I’m just doing my job and trying to earn a living,” he concluded.
