Ghanaian actress and celebrated television presenter Nana Ama McBrown has opened up about her reasons for not featuring in Nollywood movies, despite her extensive career in the entertainment industry.
In a candid discussion on her show *Onua Showtime*, McBrown revealed that her deep-rooted loyalty to Ghana is the main reason she has steered clear of Nollywood, the Nigerian film industry. McBrown went on to explain that her allegiance to Ghanaian artists plays a significant role in her life. She intentionally limits her engagement with Nigerian music and movies because she feels a strong sense of responsibility to promote Ghanaian talent. “I have a great relationship with Ghanaian musicians, and jamming to Nigerian songs would feel like I’m betraying them,” she said.
Reflecting on an experience with the popular reality show *Big Brother Naija*, McBrown shared how she felt disheartened when a Sarkodie song was abruptly cut short during a party scene. This incident further solidified her decision to distance herself from Nigerian entertainment, even though she respects her Nigerian counterparts.
Nana Ama McBrown’s commitment to her country and its creative industry remains unwavering. Her decision to prioritize Ghanaian content over Nigerian, even at the cost of potential Nollywood roles, underscores her dedication to supporting and uplifting Ghana’s entertainment sector.
