“Anytime I listen to my song ‘Feelings’ which I did with Ebony, I always wish that she was here with me,” Kurl Songx said, his voice tinged with both admiration and sorrow. “But may her soul rest in peace because God knows best. I know she is in a happy place, and I’m just glad to have had the opportunity to work with such a great person.”

Ebony Reigns, born Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng, was known for her bold and dynamic presence in the Ghanaian music scene. She quickly rose to fame with hits like “Maame Hwɛ” and “Kupe,” earning a reputation as a trailblazer in the industry. Unfortunately, her rising star was extinguished far too soon when she died in a car accident on February 8, 2018, just days before her 21st birthday.

Kurl Songx’s reflection on their collaboration underscores the immense loss that Ebony’s death represented for the Ghanaian music community. “I wished she would be around for us to perform the ‘Feelings’ song together,” he continued, “but the unthinkable has happened already, and there’s nothing we could do about it.”

Despite the sadness that accompanies the memory of Ebony, Kurl Songx emphasized the joy and honor he feels for having been able to create something lasting with her. Their song “Feelings” stands as a testament to Ebony’s talent and the indelible mark she left on Ghanaian music, as well as the special connection she shared with those she worked with.

As fans continue to cherish Ebony’s legacy, Kurl Songx’s words serve as a poignant reminder of the talent that was lost and the music that will continue to resonate for years to come.
