Renowned Ghanaian gospel singer Joyce Blessing has firmly dismissed the notion that secular music negatively influences gospel artists.
Speaking in an interview with 3FM, the ‘I Swerve’ hitmaker called such views “hypocrisy,” stating that many secular songs offer motivation and positive messages.
“It’s not correct, it’s hypocrisy to say that. There are secular songs that are motivational,” she remarked.
Joyce Blessing highlighted songs like Akwaboah’s ‘No Pressure’ and Sarkodie’s verse in ‘Countryside’ featuring Black Sherif as examples of secular music that inspire her.
She also mentioned Stonebwoy’s ‘Strength and Hope’, praising it for its uplifting content.
She further explained, “Not all secular music is negative. There are many songs that provide motivation and encouragement, and I find them helpful.”
By dispelling these claims, Joyce Blessing urged gospel artists to appreciate the positive influence that some secular music can bring.
