Former Ghanaian football star, Asamoah Gyan, has officially distanced himself from any political affiliations, stating his intention to focus solely on philanthropic efforts.
In a statement released on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, Gyan clarified his departure from political involvement, including his previous role as chairman of the youth and sports sub-committee for the Bawumia for 2024 campaign.
Gyan expressed regret for not fully focusing on the youth of Ghana in the past and outlined his future priorities. “From this moment on, I will not be associated with any political party. My commitment is to serve the youth and people of Ghana through humanitarian work,” he stated.
The former Black Stars captain emphasized that his focus will now be on creating opportunities for young people through sports, education, and character development. Through his foundations—Asamoah Gyan Foundation and Moah Green Foundation—he aims to establish sports academies and training centers to nurture future talent.
He concluded by wishing all political parties a peaceful election in December and reaffirming his dedication to building a better future for the youth, free from political ties.
