Businesswoman and socialite Afua Asantewaa Aduonum has taken to social media to address critics who, according to her, seem eager to celebrate the failure of her marriage.
In a viral TikTok video, she expressed disappointment at the negative comments surrounding her relationship, particularly after she and her husband participated in a dance challenge made popular by Big Brother Naija couples.
Afua noted that some people seem overly invested in the idea of her becoming a divorcee, waiting for news of her separation. “There are people who wake up each day just to check if Afua Asantewaa is still married. They are hoping for bad news so they can celebrate. Why can’t people just appreciate something good for once?” she questioned.
Despite the criticism, Afua reassured her followers that she is not the “troublesome” person some have painted her to be, standing firm in the strength of her marriage.
In December 2023, Afua Asantewaa gained widespread attention in Ghana when she attempted to break the Guinness World Record for the longest singing marathon. Singing for 126 hours and 52 minutes, she pushed through five days of continuous singing. Although she fell short of breaking the official record, her dedication and resilience left a lasting impression.
