Ghanaian Highlife musician Akwaboah Jnr has advised men to steer clear of polygamy and infidelity, describing these behaviors as unnecessary sources of pressure.

Speaking in an interview on ‘Ayekoo Ayekoo’ with Nana Romeo on Accra 100.5 FM on Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the talented singer and songwriter shared his thoughts on the complications of managing multiple relationships.

Akwaboah addressed men who use biblical figures such as King Solomon to justify polygamy, pointing out the consequences these figures faced despite their early successes. “King Solomon, despite his divine wisdom, ended up falling into idolatry because of his desire for many women,” Akwaboah explained.

He urged men to reflect on the full story, including the downfalls of biblical patriarchs, rather than focusing only on their initial glories.

The award-winning musician also called attention to the personal stress men place on themselves when they engage in polygamous or promiscuous lifestyles. He questioned why men would be unfaithful when they already have wives who are “attractive, submissive, resourceful, and sexually adventurous.”

As a newly married man, Akwaboah shared his own perspective on fidelity, admitting his human imperfections. “I’m not an angel, so I can’t say for sure what the future holds, but I am committed to staying faithful,” he said, emphasizing that infidelity only brings harm to relationships.

He further touched on the issue of unfaithfulness among women, noting that while some women may be unfaithful, it is often done secretly.

Akwaboah’s comments serve as a caution to both men and women to consider the negative consequences of infidelity and polygamy, urging men especially to avoid the unnecessary pressures these lifestyles bring.
