Efia Odo, the outspoken social activist and media personality, has joined the growing voices of concern against the current government as part of the #Freethecitizens campaign.

In a powerful post on X (formerly Twitter), she expressed deep concerns over the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), accusing them of disregarding the rule of law and contributing to Ghana’s current struggles.

Efia Odo lamented the deteriorating state of the nation under the leadership of President Nana Addo, claiming that it would take a miracle to recover from the crisis.

She further expressed doubts that even if the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) wins the next general elections, John Mahama would be able to fully resolve the country’s challenges within a four-year term.

Her comments come after the arrest of 39 protesters during a recent #Freethecitizens demonstration organized by the Democracy Hub.

The protesters, who were rallying against illegal mining and economic mismanagement, have been charged with unlawful assembly.

Some of the demonstrators have already been remanded by the Accra Circuit Court as the legal battle continues.
