Ghanaian rapper Amerado, born Derrick Sarfo Kantanka, has shed light on his decision to decline a feature request from veteran musician Barima Sidney.

Speaking on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z with Kwame Dadzie, Amerado explained that while he appreciated the song Sidney sent him, he felt it wasn’t a track he could fully deliver on.

The “Kweku Ananse” hitmaker emphasized that inspiration is crucial when choosing collaborations. “Barima Sidney sent me a song, and I loved it.

But after discussing with my team, I felt it wasn’t something I could give my best on, so I requested a remix of one of his classic hits instead, but that didn’t happen either,” he shared.

Amerado clarified that his decision wasn’t due to a lack of respect for Sidney, adding, “I’ve seen him mention in interviews that I ignored the feature, but it’s not like that. Who wouldn’t want to work with a legend like Barima Sidney? I just want to make sure I can give my all on any song I jump on.”

He highlighted how inspiration played a key role in him quickly agreeing to work on Joyce Blessing’s remix of “Overdo,” a track he vibed with immediately.

Amerado remains hopeful for a future collaboration with Barima Sidney when the right song comes along.
