Ghanaian musician and entrepreneur D-Black expressed his discontent with the current state of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) and the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).
He stated that if he were appointed as Ghana’s Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, his first action would be to dissolve both organizations.
D-Black, known for hits like Vera, criticized GHAMRO and MUSIGA for their failure to effectively represent musicians and ensure fair royalties. He described their systems as outdated and inefficient, highlighting the need for a restructuring that truly protects the rights of Ghanaian artists.

“Neither GHAMRO nor MUSIGA is serving the interests of musicians. I would shut them down and establish a new system that actually works for us,” he declared, adding that over the years, various leaders have failed to make a meaningful impact on the industry.
The artist emphasized that the core of the problem lies in accountability and transparency, and he believes that without significant reform, Ghanaian musicians will continue to suffer from poor royalty collection and management.
