Ghanaian actress Nadia Buari recently shared her thoughts on kissing scenes in movies, stressing that they are far from genuine moments of romance.

In an appearance on TV3’s The Afternoon Show with Godwin Namboh and Anita Akua Akuffo, Buari revealed that while movie kisses are meant to appear authentic, they are actually carefully orchestrated. She clarified that the scenes are staged to look convincing for the characters, not for the actors themselves, who remain emotionally detached.

“The kissing scenes aren’t real,” Buari explained. “They are a part of the performance. We’re trying to make the audience believe in the story, so while we do kiss, it’s only real for the characters we’re playing. There’s no actual emotion involved.”

Buari noted that kissing scenes can be particularly challenging because they are often filmed repeatedly, with multiple takes required to get the perfect shot. This process, along with the presence of a full crew on set, eliminates any possibility of emotional involvement.

She also mentioned that, despite her extensive experience in films involving romantic scenes, she doesn’t have a favorite on-screen partner, indicating that each scene is approached with the same professionalism and dedication.

Buari’s remarks come ahead of the anticipated release of her latest movie with Majid Michel, offering a glimpse into the realities of on-screen romance and the skill required to make these moments believable for audiences.
