Ghanaian rapper and media personality Pope Skinny has candidly revisited the breakdown of his once-solid friendship with dancehall icon Shatta Wale, pointing to immaturity and poor communication as significant factors in their fallout.

During an interview on Property FM in Cape Coast, Pope Skinny detailed the series of misunderstandings that began in 2018, revealing that his responses at the time contributed to the rift. “If I were in the same situation today, I wouldn’t have reacted at all,” he admitted, hinting at how his initial attempts to defend himself only intensified the tension between them.

Shatta Wale’s harsh public accusations, which Pope Skinny described as both painful and unfounded, played a central role in their fallout.

Reflecting on their earlier years, Pope Skinny noted that while disagreements were not new to their friendship, they had always managed to resolve them behind closed doors.

This time, however, the conflict escalated beyond repair, with both artists contributing to the fallout by taking things too far. “We’ve had our share of serious fights in the past, but this one was different. He went too deep, and I did too,” he said, acknowledging that their mutual immaturity at the time kept them from mending fences.

Despite the public nature of their feud, Pope Skinny’s remarks suggest that time has given him the insight to see how things could have been handled better. Whether this signals potential reconciliation remains uncertain, but his willingness to reflect openly could pave the way for more mature dialogue in the future.
