Outspoken social commentator and influencer, Twene Jonas, has stirred controversy by calling out Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie for remaining silent during the country’s ongoing economic hardships.

In a recent video shared on his social media platforms, Jonas did not hold back as he labeled Sarkodie a “big-time hypocrite” for failing to address the challenges faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

Jonas, known for his no-holds-barred approach, reminded viewers that Sarkodie was once a powerful voice of dissent, especially during the administration of former President John Dramani Mahama.

The rapper’s music and public statements were critical of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, advocating for change and swaying public opinion towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Notably, Sarkodie released a song endorsing President Nana Akufo-Addo in the lead-up to his first term.

However, with the current economic difficulties gripping Ghana, including high inflation and increased cost of living, Jonas questioned why Sarkodie has not stepped up to speak out against the leadership of President Akufo-Addo, as he did with the previous administration.

He expressed disappointment that an influential figure like Sarkodie, who once championed the need for accountability, has been conspicuously silent.

“When Mahama was in power, you were loud and clear. You made songs and spoke up. So where is your voice now when the country is facing even greater challenges?” Jonas said during his passionate rant.

The critique has sparked debate among Ghanaians, with some agreeing with Jonas’ call for more consistency from public figures, while others argue that artists are not obligated to be politically vocal.

Sarkodie has yet to respond to these remarks, leaving fans and observers curious about whether he will break his silence on the issue.
