Renowned Ghanaian musician Livingstone Etse Satekla, popularly known as Stonebwoy, has stated that he has no immediate intentions of pursuing a career in politics.
The award-winning artist emphasized that his current role as a musician provides him with an impactful platform to serve and inspire Ghanaians.
According to Stonebwoy, his music and public influence are powerful tools for driving positive change without the need for a political title.
Speaking in an interview on Joy FM, Stonebwoy explained, “Being a musician is one of the biggest platforms you can have. Imagine being blessed to this level—you already have power.
In that capacity, you can do the Lord’s work and contribute to the public good without necessarily holding political office.”
His comments come in the aftermath of the 2024 parliamentary elections, which saw notable entertainers, including actor John Setor Dumelo and musician Kwame Asare Obeng (A Plus), make significant strides in politics.
Dumelo won the Ayawaso West Wuogon parliamentary seat on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ticket, while A Plus secured an independent victory in the Gomoa Central constituency.
Stonebwoy acknowledged their accomplishments but maintained that his current focus is on using his music and influence to serve Ghanaians. For him, his career and lifestyle are already forms of national service, enabling him to inspire and uplift the public.
“I admire what others are doing in politics, but for now, my calling is to touch lives through my music and actions. That’s how I give back to the nation,” he concluded.
