In a heartfelt gesture, Wendy Shay visited the market to personally donate GHC10,000 to aid victims in rebuilding their lives. While interacting with the affected traders, the “Shay On You” hitmaker expressed her deep sympathy for their plight and reassured them of her support during this difficult time.

Speaking to the media, Wendy Shay urged other well-meaning Ghanaians and organizations to extend a helping hand to the victims. “This is a tragedy that affects us all. We need to come together as a nation to support those who have lost everything,” she said.

The Kantamanto Market, a bustling hub for secondhand clothing and goods, is a cornerstone of Ghana’s informal economy. The fire has drawn attention to the need for enhanced safety measures and infrastructure improvements in major marketplaces across the country.

Preliminary investigations into the cause of the fire suggest faulty electrical wiring as the likely culprit, although authorities have not ruled out arson.

Cleanup efforts are currently underway as traders and city officials work to restore the market’s operations.

Wendy Shay’s generosity has been widely praised, with many describing her act as a shining example of compassion and responsibility. Her contribution provides hope for the affected traders as they navigate the challenges ahead, underscoring the power of collective support in times of adversity.
