Veteran Highlife musician Kwabena Kwabena has shared his perspective on what it truly means to be a man, stating that real masculinity is rooted in the responsibility a man takes for his partner.

In an honest conversation with Roselyn Felli on Joy Prime’s Changes show, the “Aso” hitmaker shed light on the qualities that define a real man in his view.

According to Kwabena Kwabena, one of the fundamental aspects of being a man is ensuring that your partner feels secure and comfortable. He stressed that it is a man’s responsibility to ensure the well-being of his woman, urging men to live up to this expectation.

“The process by which a woman was created shows that a woman must be comfortable, and every man knows that. Men who don’t know about that are the ones disgracing us. Every man should know that he must be responsible for his woman. If you don’t know this basic thing, then you’re not a man,” he explained passionately.

The singer further challenged societal views that often place men at the forefront of dominance, insisting that true masculinity goes beyond power and control. He emphasized that women play an irreplaceable role in the world, and that any behavior from men that disrespects women should be condemned.

He also reminded women to be understanding of men, who, according to him, often face struggles in silence. “Men also need empathy. We go through battles that people don’t see. I think women should understand this, too,” he shared.

For Kwabena Kwabena, being a real man isn’t about being overpowering but about fighting life’s challenges with determination and resilience. He further stated, “I want to be a man always. So I see battles as they must come for me to fight them. And as a man, I need to fight my battles, and that’s what makes me a man.”

In December 2024, Kwabena Kwabena announced plans to celebrate two decades in the music industry. This special milestone will be marked with his annual Valentine’s Day concert, set to take place on February 14, 2025, at the Grand Arena of the Accra International Conference Centre (AICC).
