Celebrated Ghanaian gospel singer Diana Antwi Hamilton has shared an inspiring story about how she discovered her talent for singing at a young age.
Speaking on Starr Chart with Bola Ray, she revealed that she first recognized her musical ability at just seven years old.

According to Diana, singing came naturally to her, and she often found herself drawn to music. What made her realize she had a gift was the positive feedback from family members, especially her aunties, who constantly praised her voice. Their encouragement gave her confidence and reassured her that she was on the right path.
> “I just realized I was singing around age seven, and when you’re singing, and it sounds good in your ear, you know,” she said. “I saw a lot of grown-ups sing, and I felt I could sing like them, if not better. At one point, all my aunties said I could sing, and then I knew, okay, I must be doing something right.”
As she grew older, Diana actively sought opportunities to sing, whether at home, in school, or at church. At age 13, she had her first public performance in church, thanks to her aunt, Maa Tess, who played a crucial role in shaping her confidence.
Diana recalled how her aunt would submit her name for church performances every Sunday, even when she wasn’t prepared.
“My parents were in Sierra Leone, so I lived with my aunt. Every Sunday, she would tell the church elders, ‘Diana will sing,’ and I would be so cross! But she kept pushing me to do what I love,” she recounted.
Looking back, Diana Hamilton credits her early exposure and the unwavering support of her family for her successful music career. Today, she is one of Ghana’s most celebrated gospel musicians, known for hit songs like “Perfect God,” “Adom (Grace),” “Nyansabuakwa Nyame,” and “Mo Ne Yo.”
