Ghanaian rap legend Okyeame Kwame has publicly endorsed King Paluta as Artiste of the Year, sparking conversations within the music industry.

In a recent Facebook post, Okyeame Kwame hailed King Paluta’s achievements and confidently declared him the best in the game. The rapper shared a visualizer of Paluta’s latest song, Magic, from his Give Time Some Time album, and captioned it:

“Artiste of the Year. Signed, sealed, delivered. And he is wearing the love equation by OK. Medaase.”

His statement has since generated mixed reactions, with fans debating whether King Paluta truly deserves the honor over other top contenders. While some agree with Okyeame Kwame’s choice, others argue that artists like Stonebwoy, King Promise, and Kofi Kinaata have had an equally impactful year.

Although Okyeame Kwame did not specify which award scheme he was referring to, many believe he was alluding to the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), Ghana’s most prestigious music awards. However, TGMA organizers are yet to unveil the nominees for this year’s edition.

To win Artiste of the Year at TGMA, an artist must have had a massive year in terms of hit songs, albums, or EPs, and must also secure multiple nominations in various categories. King Paluta’s 2024 releases, including Aseda, Makoma, and Pop Champagne, along with his well-received album, have solidified his presence in the industry.

With the official nominations yet to be announced, the debate on who truly deserves the Artiste of the Year title is heating up. Will King Paluta claim the crown, or will another contender rise to the top? The industry waits in anticipation.
