Ghanaian music executive and popular entertainment analyst, Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, widely known as Bullgod, has called for renewed attention to mental health challenges, particularly within the creative space, following the sudden death of Highlife musician Dada KD.

Appearing on UTV’s United Showbiz over the weekend, Bullgod emotionally recalled his last conversation with Dada KD just hours before his demise on Friday, May 16, 2025.

The two had spoken about an upcoming event in the UK, and although the legendary singer hinted that he wasn’t feeling well, there were no clear signs that his condition was critical.

What struck Bullgod most was the emotional tone that had come to characterize Dada KD in recent years. “When you talked to him deeply, you could feel the weight he was carrying,” Bullgod noted. “He wasn’t just physically tired — he seemed mentally and emotionally drained.”

Bullgod emphasized that many creatives often suffer in silence due to the pressures of the industry and the expectations placed on them. He described the mind as a processor that constantly works through emotions and stress, unlike a hard drive that simply stores data. “You can’t keep piling things in your mind without release. The mind processes emotions, thoughts, and pressure — and it has limits,” he explained.

He urged entertainers, fans, and the general public to take mental health more seriously, stressing the importance of open conversations, counseling, and rest. “We need to normalize mental health checks just like physical check-ups,” he said.

Dada KD’s unexpected passing has sparked an outpouring of grief from fans and colleagues alike, many of whom are now echoing Bullgod’s sentiments on the importance of mental wellness.

His legacy as a passionate advocate for Ghanaian music lives on, but so too does a painful reminder that emotional struggles should never be ignored.
