Ghanaian music heavyweight Stonebwoy has once again sparked conversation after speaking out about what he believes is a major roadblock to the nation’s musical progress — a culture of negativity and internal sabotage.
In a video gaining traction on social media, the multi-award-winning artist didn’t hold back in his critique of what he calls Ghana’s self-destructive attitude toward its own talents. According to him, rather than celebrating success, many are quick to criticize, discredit, or downplay the efforts of others.
“The truth is, we don’t uplift our own. We find every reason to tear each other down,” Stonebwoy remarked. “This behavior is costing the industry more than we realize.”

He explained that while Ghana boasts incredible talent and potential, the constant judgment, backbiting, and lack of unity within the industry have created an environment that discourages growth.
Stonebwoy contrasted this with the approach of Nigerian musicians, who, he said, have learned to rally behind each other and push a united narrative on the global stage.
“In Nigeria, when one person makes it, the rest see it as a victory for all. That’s how you build an empire. In Ghana, unfortunately, we’re too quick to cast doubt and spread negativity.”
The Therapy hitmaker is now advocating for what he describes as a “cultural reset”—a move away from the deeply ingrained “Pull Him Down” mentality toward one that promotes collaboration, celebration, and empowerment.
He proposed that instead of tearing others down, Ghanaians should commit to pulling each other up — or as he put it, “Pull Him There.”
As the global music landscape becomes more competitive, Stonebwoy’s message serves as both a warning and a call to action: Without unity and a change in attitude, Ghana risks falling further behind.
