In a recent sit-down with U.S.-based Ghanaian fashion critic Firestick, the outspoken dancehall star made it clear that while Sarkodie remains the greatest Ghanaian rapper of all time, Medikal is the rapper he enjoys most on a personal level.

“When it comes to the best ever, it’s Sarkodie—no two ways about it. But if you ask me who my favorite rapper is right now, it’s Medikal,” Shatta Wale declared.

He praised Sarkodie for his unmatched legacy—citing his consistency, lyrical strength, and longevity—as the reason he deserves the title of GOAT (Greatest of All Time).

At the same time, Shatta believes Medikal is in a league of his own when it comes to connecting with the new generation.

> “Medikal speaks the language of the youth. What he’s doing now, most up-and-coming rappers are copying. That tells you he’s influencing the culture in real time,” he explained.

Shatta Wale also addressed those who downplay Medikal’s artistry, comparing him to international acts like Central Cee and Lil Baby.

> “People don’t realize that Medikal is on the same level with those guys. If he wasn’t rapping in a way that appeals to Ghanaians, he wouldn’t even be able to survive here. He’s smart about it,” Shatta noted.

The SM boss concluded by applauding Medikal’s commercial mindset and ability to blend rap with market demands.

“I love rap, but I love rappers who understand the business. Medikal gets it. He raps for the people, but also makes it work for himself,” he added.

Shatta’s comments have since gone viral, reigniting debates over who truly deserves the crown in Ghanaian rap—and whether Medikal is ready to take over when Sarkodie eventually bows out.
