‎Tension erupted at Wesley Senior High School in Konongo, Ashanti Region, after some final-year students allegedly vandalized school property and attacked teachers over what they described as “strict supervision” during the ongoing 2025 West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).

‎The chaos reportedly began during the Christian Religious Studies (CRS) paper when invigilators enforced strict anti-cheating measures.

Displeased by the supervision, some candidates pelted stones and sachet water at teachers, forcing them to flee for safety.

‎Matters escalated on the night of Sunday, September 7, 2025, when a mob of students allegedly targeted the Senior House Mistress. According to eyewitness accounts, her residence was attacked with heavy stones, one of which tore through her kitchen roof.

The students also destroyed crops—including cocoyam, maize, cassava, and plantain—cultivated in her garden.

‎A teacher who recounted the ordeal said the students had finished their exams on Friday but returned in school uniforms to carry out the attack.

He added that a tip-off from a student warned staff of the planned assault, and by the time they were alerted, a group had already gathered at the school gate, threatening violence.

‎Some staff reportedly sustained injuries and sought medical treatment. The incident has since been reported to the Police, who are said to be monitoring the situation closely, as the students allegedly threatened further attacks.
