Award-winning dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has opened up about his childhood ambitions, revealing that he once dreamt of becoming a pilot, lawyer, or even the President of Ghana before music became his true calling.
Speaking in an interview on Joy Prime on October 15, the “Ayoo” hitmaker said that from a young age, he knew he had strong leadership qualities, as many of his peers naturally listened to and respected his opinions.
“I wanted to be a pilot, a lawyer, and the President. One of them wasn’t really a job—it felt like something ordained,” Shatta Wale said.
He added that his music journey wasn’t part of his early ambitions, but he now believes it was divinely chosen for him.
“This job is like galamsey. When you fall inside the hole, it takes God’s grace to come out. I feel where God has brought me now is more about leadership, so I’m just following that path,” he noted.
The dancehall star also credited his father, Shatta Capo, for instilling discipline, self-belief, and a passion for knowledge.
“My father taught me the value of self-education. His philosophy was ‘know yourself and align with your dreams.’ I was never among the last ten in school until SHS—that was my wake-up call,” he recalled.
Shatta Wale humorously admitted that although music has been demanding, he has no regrets about the path he took.
“I sometimes wish I had become a pilot or lawyer, but I always say whatever God plans for you is the best,” he said with a laugh.
