The Member of Parliament for Techiman South, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has declared his strong confidence in Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s ability to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to victory in the 2028 general elections, saying the former Vice President has “passed the test” of leadership in the eyes of Ghanaians.
Speaking during Dr. Bawumia’s campaign tour in Techiman on Saturday, October 18, the MP said choosing Dr. Bawumia as flagbearer in the upcoming NPP primaries scheduled for January 2026 would be the most strategic decision for the party.
“Dr. Bawumia has served the party so well. He served diligently as Vice President and now deserves the opportunity to move a step forward to the Presidency. We all have to push him,” Mr. Mensah Korsah stated.
He explained that Ghana’s political history shows that the path to the presidency often requires more than one attempt. According to him, Dr. Bawumia has already endured the process of scrutiny that Ghanaians typically put leaders through before giving them their trust.

“Ghanaians love to first test our leaders — their humility, patience, and courage. Dr. Bawumia has passed all these tests, so why should we set him aside for someone Ghanaians don’t know?” he questioned.
Mr. Mensah Korsah also described Dr. Bawumia as one of the most popular politicians in Ghana today, second only to former President John Dramani Mahama in terms of public recognition.
“Everywhere we have gone, people know him. Apart from Mahama, no politician in Ghana is more popular than Dr. Bawumia,” he added.
The MP emphasized that Dr. Bawumia is already a well-marketed candidate, and presenting a new face would require “ten times more effort” to introduce and promote to voters.
He therefore urged delegates in Techiman and across the Bono East Region to deliver a resounding victory for Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming primaries, saying it would “send a clear signal to all” that the NPP is united and ready for 2028.
