Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Medikal has revealed that he no longer chases mainstream validation or viral hits when creating music. For him, fulfillment now comes from knowing that even a few people truly connect with his art.

In a recent interview on 3Music TV, the Omo Ada hitmaker — known in private life as Samuel Adu Frimpong — shared that his perspective on success in music has evolved over time.

“If I do music and even 5 people like the song, I’m cool. I don’t take it personal that my songs have to blow,”

Medikal said.

He explained that he now prioritizes authenticity and emotional connection over popularity, emphasizing that his creative process is rooted in self-expression rather than public approval.

Despite the massive success of his viral single “Shoulder”, Medikal revealed that his personal favorites from his catalog are “Baddie” and “DND.”

“With all the songs I’ve recorded, I can’t say my favorite is Shoulder. My favorites are Baddie and DND.

You won’t really hear them in clubs — Shoulder is everywhere — but songs like Baddie are yet to be noticed,” he said.

He described Baddie as bold and relatable because of its raw and expressive lyrics, adding that every song he releases reflects a different side of his personality and growth as an artist.
