Award-winning rapper Sarkodie has shared insights into a lesser-known creative push in his music journey, revealing that dancehall star Shatta Wale has been encouraging him to explore singing more boldly in his songs.

Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM with Kwame Dadzie and Doreen Avio, Sarkodie disclosed that he has recorded multiple unreleased songs that move away from rap and focus entirely on melody.

According to the rapper, Shatta Wale has been one of the few artistes consistently urging him not to shy away from releasing such songs. Sarkodie explained that although writing melodic music comes naturally to him, putting it out publicly has always been a challenge.

He revealed that one of the unreleased tracks features him singing from start to finish, a move he admits made him uncomfortable. Despite his hesitation, Shatta Wale reportedly insisted that this direction represents the next stage of his artistic evolution and encouraged him to embrace it fully.

While Sarkodie is best known for his sharp lyricism and dominance in rap, he has occasionally infused melody into his work over the years. His success on international platforms, including major award recognitions, has already established him as one of Ghana’s most versatile musicians.

However, fans are yet to hear a full body of work centred on his singing voice. Should Sarkodie decide to release such material, it could signal a fresh phase in his career and attract a wider audience beyond traditional hip-hop listeners.

The revelation also highlights the growing camaraderie between Sarkodie and Shatta Wale. Once known for their rivalry, the two artistes now openly celebrate each other’s influence, showing a relationship built on creative respect and maturity.
