Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has strongly defended his performance in the 2024 general elections, insisting that he remains the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) best-performing flagbearer in Ghana’s recent political history.
The Vice President made the statement during his campaign tour of the Bono Region, where he met with delegates from the Berekum East Constituency. His visit drew an overwhelming crowd of party supporters at the Berekum College of Education Auditorium, many of whom pledged to vote massively for him in the upcoming NPP Presidential Primaries scheduled for January 31, 2026.
Addressing delegates, Dr. Bawumia dismissed claims suggesting he was the “worst-performing flagbearer” in the 2024 elections. He described such allegations as misleading and baseless, emphasizing that his electoral record speaks for itself.
“The data is clear. From Adu Boahen to President Kufuor and all others before me, I am the best-performing NPP flagbearer with a 41% record in the last election,” he declared.
He further called on delegates to reject false narratives and focus on his proven track record of hard work, discipline, and digital innovation.
“Among the five of us contesting, I hold the candidature baton. No one can take it unless through lies. But truth always wins,” he said.
Dr. Bawumia also praised the delegates of Berekum East for their renewed confidence in his leadership. The constituency chairman, Mr. Kwaku Kamkam, assured him that the delegates would not repeat their previous voting decision, promising full support for his 2026 campaign.
The Vice President reiterated his vision to unite the NPP and lead the party to victory in the next general election, stressing that unity and hard work will be key to securing Ghana’s future under an NPP government.
