Highlife sensation Fameye has revealed that he invested more than $15,000 into his performance at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA), aiming to deliver a show-stopping set.
In an interview with Hitz FM on July 22, 2025, the Praise hitmaker shared that the hefty cost covered a range of elements including costumes, props, dancers, and director fees. According to him, two directors were specifically hired to oversee the stagecraft and ensure everything was executed flawlessly.
“I’m sure I’m one of the few artistes that spent that much on the night,” he said. “We had to sew outfits for myself and the dancers, build sets and props, pay directors — the whole budget went above $15,000.”
Fameye noted that the budget was submitted in advance and approved by the TGMA organizers, whom he commended for supporting the production.
Despite the massive investment, Fameye expressed some disappointment over the final performance, citing unexpected technical issues.
“It wasn’t the exact performance we planned,” he lamented. “My band and I didn’t feel it fully. I had some setbacks — things beyond our control. There was a preset that was supposed to play; my in-ear monitors weren’t working, and the band couldn’t hear anything.”
He admitted these technical difficulties affected his ability to deliver at 100%, but also acknowledged that such mishaps are sometimes unavoidable in live performances.
“These technical challenges are normal; they happen,” he added.
Fameye’s candid reflection sheds light on the unseen efforts and challenges artists often face behind the scenes, even during high-profile events like the TGMAs.
