Veteran Ghanaian reggae artist and broadcaster, Blakk Rasta, has shared a heartfelt reflection on his career, admitting that financial stability has remained elusive despite his achievements.
The musician, born Abubakar Ahmed, disclosed this while speaking at a church service in Uganda led by Prophet Samuel Kakande. He revealed that even with more than 13 albums and performances before world leaders, his earnings have not matched the impact of his music.
“I have met and performed for some of the biggest presidents in the world. I performed for Barack Obama when he came to Ghana. I even made the song that brought him here. I also performed for Robert Mugabe during his 92nd birthday celebration,” Blakk Rasta recounted.
Despite such career highlights, he confessed: “I know I do very good music, but it doesn’t give me the money I expect.”
His revelation has reignited conversations about the struggles of Ghanaian musicians, particularly veteran artistes, who continue to battle financial hardship despite years of hard work and dedication.
