Popular Ghanaian afrobeats star Gregory Bortey Newman, professionally known by his stage name King Promise, has come forward to address recent criticisms regarding his close friendship with media personality Efia Odo.
In a heartfelt interview with popular YouTuber Kwadwo Sheldon, King Promise emphasized his unwavering support for Efia Odo, highlighting their deep-rooted friendship and her role in his journey to success.
The “CCTV” hitmaker revealed that he and Efia Odo have been friends for over eight years, a relationship that began long before his rise to fame. King Promise described Efia as a steadfast supporter who has always been there for him, both personally and professionally.

“I don’t understand the criticism. I’ve asked some of my friends why they don’t like her, but they can’t give me a reason. Maybe it’s because they don’t appreciate her character, but for me, I appreciate her uniqueness,” King Promise shared during the interview.
King Promise stressed that his bond with Efia Odo is based on genuine friendship and mutual respect. He acknowledged that while some people might not appreciate her personality, he values her authenticity and the unwavering support she has shown him over the years.
“I’ve known Efia for about eight years, long before I gained fame, and she has always been supportive of everything I do. So why should I abandon my friend just because some people don’t like her? That doesn’t make sense,” he asserted.
