Ghanaian actress and media personality, Akuapem Poloo, is making headlines again—not for controversy this time, but for her refreshing honesty about love and relationships.
In an exclusive conversation with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, the outspoken socialite revealed that she has never experienced life as a single woman—and she’s not ashamed to say it.
> “I’ve never been single in my life. I always move on quickly after a breakup,” she confessed.
Love, Not Marriage
While many see marriage as the ultimate relationship goal, Poloo says she finds more happiness in dating. The actress, who recently welcomed her second child—a baby girl—believes that the societal pressure on women to marry often leads them into unhappy unions.
“People act like marriage is the end goal, but I think happiness is the real goal,” she said. “Dating gives me freedom and fun without the stress that comes with marriage.”
For Poloo, the idea of love is more important than the title that comes with it. Though she is currently with a partner who’s working abroad—possibly planning for a future wedding—she insists that marriage will only happen if it feels right spiritually, not because society expects it.
“Marriage is beautiful, but it’s not a must. If Allah wills it, fine. But if not, I’m still whole.”
A Woman in Control
Now a practicing Muslim, Akuapem Poloo says her faith and her relationship have helped her mature over the years. Her transformation hasn’t gone unnoticed—she credits her growth to both personal experience and spiritual grounding.
“I’m not the same person I used to be. Something is controlling me now,” she laughed.
Her mother, who recently converted to Islam and now goes by the name Aishatu, is also part of her journey of faith and family.
As always, Akuapem Poloo remains true to herself—living boldly, loving freely, and refusing to let society define her happiness.
